The Rocky Mountain Oils S.A.A.F.E. Promise™ is our guarantee to you that our essential oils are what
we say they are: 100% pure, natural and authentic.
We're committed to delivering the highest quality essential oils. We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee that our products are always pure and potent. We support this guarantee by providing actual GC/MS test results free of charge through our website for every essential oil. We also provide unrivaled customer service through a no questions asked 90-day product return policy.
We guarantee that our essential oils contain no adulterants by conducting both external and internal product testing. Our external GC/MS testing process is verified through an independent, third party lab and is scrutinized by our in-house quality control team. After the oil is GC/MS tested, our Quality team runs extensive internal analysis to assure quality with organoleptic, Refractive Index and various other tests.
We have direct buying relationships with the most trusted suppliers in the industry. Each of our suppliers is required to meet stringent product quality guidelines before we consider buying from them.
We test hundreds of samples to find the best essential oils available. These samples are GC/MS tested to check for purity before we purchase essential oils from our suppliers. If the sample contains any adulterants, contaminants, diluents or synthetics, it is rejected. If a sample passes the GC/MS test, we place a bulk order from the same batch that constituted the approved sample.
Once the bulk order arrives, we send a sample from it to our third-party lab for another round of GC/MS testing to ensure we received the same essential oil that we sampled and purchased. We do this to ensure that the essential oil you receive is the same 100% pure and natural oil we purchased from our suppliers.
We do multiple spot checks to make sure our products meet the highest quality standards as part of our overall Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Our outside testing process is watched closely by our Quality team, as is our in-house bottling process for maximum quality assurance.

Gas Chromatography (GC) describes the analytical separation technique used to analyze volatile substances in the gas phase. In GC, the components of a sample are placed in the GC and vaporized in order to separate the analytes by distributing the sample between two phases: a stationary phase and a mobile phase. GC provides us key data about what compounds are in oils and how much of each compound is present.
Mass Spectrometry (MS) is an analytical chemistry technique that identifies the amount and type of individual molecules present in a sample by measuring the mass-to-charge ratio. A mass spectrometer has three essential functions: Ion source, Mass analyzer and the Detector. The Ion source is where the sample is ionized. Once the sample is ionized, the mass analyzer sorts and separates the ions according to the mass and charge. Once the ions are separated and sorted then the separation is measured in the detector where a table with the chromatography peaks are displayed.
Our Quality & Control Team conducts organoleptic testing on each of our essential oils after they pass the GC/MS test. The oils must pass her inspection of their physical properties (look, smell, feel, etc.) before she approves them for the bottling stage.
Refractive Index (RI) measures the speed at which light passes through an essential oil. A refractometer is the instrument used to measure the unique number, which is a combination of constituents each essential oil has, that designates how that oil responds and bends light. When an essential oil is adulterated the refractive index will be thrown off.
